MAHARAJ KUMAR RAJ SINGH DUNGARPUR was born in the erstwhile princely state of DUNGARPUR, Rajasthan, India in 1935. He was the son of the H.H. Maharawal Lakshman Singhji of Dungarpur and he studied at Daly College, Indore, India. He was the former president of The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and also The Cricket Club of India (Brabourne Stadium) in Mumbai.
He played first class cricket for 16 years and was associated with the BCCI for more than 25 years. He was a selector of the Indian cricket team for two terms and he also managed the Indian cricket team five times on overseas tours.
